WILLISTON, N.D. – Innovations and achievements in North Dakota’s oil industry will be recognized next week during a banquet here. The Williston Basin chapter of the American Petroleum Institute has named 10 finalists for its second annual achievement awards.
Ken Callahan, the chapter’s board president, said nominations for the awards reflect how companies are advancing technology, protecting the environment and contributing to the communities where they operate. “I believe we’ve taken it to another level,” Callahan said. “The innovation that we’re using today is far greater than it was a few years ago.”
– For Outstanding Achievement, finalists are Continental Resources, FRACN8R, the petroleum engineering department at the University of North Dakota and the Energy and Environmental Research Center at UND.
– For the Industry Innovation Award, finalists are Liberty Resources, JACAM Chemical Co. and Tervita.
– For the Community Service Award, finalists are Energy Outreach, Tervita and QEP Resources.
The awards will be presented during a banquet at 6 p.m. Dec. 5 at The Well at Williston State College.
The event features keynote speaker Scott Tinker, the state geologist of Texas.
“In my mind, the awards banquet is a time to reflect and honor the companies and individuals that have gone above and beyond to take us to the next level of oil and gas exploration,” Callahan said.
