OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt is praising the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to temporarily block President Barack Obama’s plan to cut power plant emissions.
Oklahoma is one of 27 states suing to halt implementation of the Clean Power Plan. The Supreme Court ruled Tuesday to block enforcement of the plan while the litigation is pending.
Pruitt, a Republican, said he’s convinced the court will agree with the states that the plan exceeds the president’s power. Pruitt says the order confirms that the high court believes there is a strong chance that the states will prevail in their challenge.
