Pipeline leak spills 300 barrels of oil and saltwater

BISMARCK, N.D. — State Health Department officials say a pipeline leak in Billings County spilled about 300 barrels of oil and saltwater, a byproduct of oil production.

The spill happened Thursday at a site operated by White Rock Oil and Gas about 16 miles northwest of Belfield.

About 50 barrels of the oil and saltwater ended up in Franks Creek. Officials with the Health Department and state Oil and Gas Division are investigating.

A barrel contains about 42 gallons.
