Alberta, Canada-based Husky Energy appointed Jonathan McKenzie as its new Chief Financial Officer, according to an announcement yesterday. A Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Arts grad from the University of Alberta, McKenzie is no stranger to Canada’s oil and gas industry.
As a chartered accountant, McKenzie will be in charge of the company’s financial division, which includes accounting, treasury, tax, corporate auditing and internal audit.
With 15 years under his belt already in Canada’s fuel industry, McKenzie most recently served as Chief Commercial Officer at Irving Oil Ltd. in New Brunswick. Before that, he served in various senior executive roles at Suncor Energy in Calgary.
According to Arctic Journal, Husky Energy recently partnered with several other companies and organizations including ArcticNet, Statoil Canada and the Research and Development Corporation of Newfoundland and Labrador (RDC) to research offshore icebreaker CCGS Amundsen this month.
Starting today and lasting until May 4, a 40-person crew of scientists and technical personnel will study various factors in the northeast of Newfoundland and Labrador. The project offers a wealth of benefits such as building a better relationships between academia and the private sector, give Statoil better insight into their offshore options and enable growth for ArcticNet’s data collection and training endeavors.
