Williston man camp files injunction, can stay open for now

WILLISTON, N.D.A Williston man camp that the city ruled must close because of code violations has filed an injunction to stay open.

The Williston Herald reports that Black Gold Lodge was ordered to vacate its property on March 1, but the injunction means it will be allowed to stay open for now. The Williston City Commission rejected a petition from camp managers in February who argued it’s now in compliance with city code.

Black Gold came under city limits in 2013 through a land annexation. The city requires sprinkler systems and commissioners had given Black Gold until Dec. 31, 2014, to install one, but the company says contractor issues stalled the installation.

Black Gold says it has spent nearly $700,000 installing the system to become compliant.
