The Williams County Commission has denied Harper Properties’ request to extend its man camp permit for a site near an industrial-zoned area. The Williston Herald reported that Rulon Harper, who owns Harper Properties, requested the company keep its permit through Oct. 31. The planning and zoning department deemed the area unsafe according to a department staff report. Several families reside in the campsite and the site has already reported a fire.

This came before planning and zoning just days after the fire on 1804,” said Ray Pacheco, the county planning director. Pacheco was referring to the Red River Supply facility fire, which burned hot enough to melt hood ornaments off semi trucks.
