MINOT, N.D. — A Missouri pipe manufacturing company says it will not proceed with its plans to build a plant in northern North Dakota.
United Poly Systems says delays in construction and other unforeseen circumstances led to the project’s cancellation.
The city of Minot last year awarded $800,000 from a development fund to the company based in Springfield, Mo. Part of the sum was to be forgivable if the plant met certain targets for hiring full-time employees. The money was never used.
The company had planned on building the plant in a 15-acre site. The company said it had identified a growing market in North Dakota and already had attracted an oil field customer who uses the pipe for transporting natural gas.
