Icy conditions cause fatality near Arnegard Sunday

By Lauren Donovan

An unidentified male driver, of Williston, was killed late Sunday afternoon in extreme ice conditions on Highway 85 at Arnegard.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol said the man driving a Ford Taurus was leaving Arnegard, slid sideways into westbound traffic and was struck squarely on the passenger side by a Vancouver, Wash., man driving an extended cab Ford pickup. The patrol said the impact was significant and the man, who was wearing a seatbelt, was killed in the crash.

The pickup driver sustained only minor injuries. He was also wearing a seatbelt, the patrol said.
