WPX, a natural gas company in the United States, has recently released a documentary that attempts to dispel the negative press and studies concerning hydraulic fracturing and the natural gas industry as a whole. Some of the most prominent points in the film include: dispelling that all natural gas companies are evil, the ecological responsibility of horizontal drilling, a subtle reference to the popular HBO documentary “Gasland”, and the chemicals used in the fracking water. One of its most redeeming points is when the film’s creators admit the effect that the fracking process has on the amount of water available in the area; though not on the areas groundwater quality itself. Although it does not necessarily create a sense of security about knowing “the truth about fracking” because it is created directly by a natural gas company, the film attempts to present factual information and is worth watching.
