PITTSBURGH (AP) — Utility crews are busy restoring electricity after a wave of thunderstorms roared across Pennsylvania.
Utilities across the state reported more than 10,000 customers lost power, most of those in Pittsburgh and the surrounding counties. By mid-morning Wednesday, Duquesne Light Co. and West Penn Power were reporting about 3,000 customers still without power.
Strong winds downed trees and power lines on Tuesday afternoon and evening.
Four campers were hurt when part of a tree crashed onto their campsite at Knoebels Amusement Resort. That’s in Cleveland Township, about 70 miles northeast of Harrisburg. A campground official wouldn’t identify the campers or say how badly they were hurt.
A barn also collapsed near East Donegal, in Lancaster County, but no one was hurt.
More storms were forecast around the state Wednesday.
