Great food paired with great wine. It’s a combination that most people look for in a choice restaurant. What could be better, you ask? When that restaurant right in your own backyard.
West Fargo’s own Maxwells Restaurant & Bar is known for great food. In fact, Maxwells has received local and regional recognition for its gourmet food time and time again. Websites such as Trip Advisor and Zomato (formerly Urban Spoon) share rave reviews by out out-of-town customers continually surprised by the food that is described as “a work of art” and the service that is “impeccable.”
But while food may be the frontliner at Maxwells, those who visit the restaurant can’t ignore the wine. And Maxwells Restaurant general manager, Ramon Sosa, knows the importance of a good bottle of wine paired with a meal. In response to an excellent offering of fine wines, Maxwells was honored this September for its outstanding wine program in Wine Spectator’s 2015 Restaurant Wine List Awards. According to a Wine Spectator press release, the restaurant is recognized among other winners from all over the globe as a top destination for wine lovers.
“Once again, Wine Spectator congratulates each and every Restaurant Award winner on a job well done,” said Marvin R. Shanken, Editor and Publisher, Wine Spectator. “With this year’s list spanning all 50 U.S. states and over 75 additional countries and territories, we hope wine lovers will use this issue, alongside WineSpectator.com’s Restaurant Awards database, as guides to finding the perfect restaurant for any occasion.”
Maxwell’s restaurant received the award from Wine Spectator for the fifth year in a row. “Our focus in the restaurant is to celebrate with food and wine. We are excited to have more than 300 wine selections in the cellar, any of which I’d be happy to open for you and your best friends and family,” says Sosa. The enormous selection of wines comes from all over the world, to introduce customers to a wide range of different types of wine.
“When I pick wines, I don’t concentrate on a specific area or region. I want people to explore new wines. So we have wines from France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, South American, and of course the United States,” Sosa lists. “Wine is so fun! Why have the same, the same, the same,” he says passionately. He says the highlight of his job is the focus on celebration, to help people have fun and have a great experience. It’s all about the experience.
