UND and Norway pen energy agreements

Norway and North Dakota are  joining forces in researching energy and oil production. A Norwegian delegation of university and oil industry experts began a week-long tour of the State in Grand Forks on Monday.

Their first stop was UND’s core sample library. It’s an enormous collection of underground North Dakota shale deposits that gives clues on where the next oil well could be drilled. They also signed a couple of agreements that will help Norway and UND, share information about oil development.

Jostein Mykletun, Norwegian Consulate General: “You’re absolutely right. It’s to share information and look for win-win situations where we can learn from each other, our experience and how we can move forward.”

Norway has a 40-year history in oil production and is one of the world’s major oil producers. Norway also puts a special emphasis on environmental protection with its oil production.
