BISMARCK, N.D. — Residents of communities in Divide and Burke counties have been told to boil tap water or use bottled water after a break in a Western Area Water Supply Authority pipeline.
The state Health Department issued the boil order Sunday. It’s in effect until further notice for communities including Crosby, Fortuna, Noonan and Columbus.
The water system brings Missouri River water to northwestern North Dakota. Executive Director Jaret Wirtz says a pipeline underneath a wetland failed and will need to be replaced. Divide County Emergency Manager Jody Gunlock says the break happened Saturday about 3 miles south of Crosby.
