Lightning ignites oil tanks near Watford City, ND

Lightning struck an oil well pad on Sunday night, causing three oil tanks on the site to ignite. The fire occurred five miles south of Watford City, ND.

No injuries were reported from the incident. The fire was contained after two and a half hours.

Secure Energy Services is the operator of the site.

Lightning has been the cause of several oilfield mishaps this year, mostly involving saltwater storage tanks.
