A saltwater disposal well 15 miles east of Williston is reported to have released 300 barrels of saltwater today. The spill occurred because of a piping leak. Kodiak Oil & Gas owns the P WOOD 3-27 disposal well. The release is said to have been contained. A state inspector is traveling to the site to analyze the incident more thoroughly.

An oil spill also occurred yesterday near Westhope, ND. Three barrels of oil and a small amount of saltwater were released into a slough. The reported cause was a broken pipe. The well is owned and operated by Enduro Operating. Two barrels of oil have been recovered from the incident, and with state approval the remaining barrel will be burned off.
