Stark Co. declares burn ban

Stark County has declared a burn ban due to dry conditions. The ban is in effect when the North Dakota Rangeland Fire Index is in the high, very high or extreme category, and/or if a red flag warning has been issued.

Before conducting a controlled burn, a citizen must contact the local fire chief or dispatch at 456-7759.

The penalty for violating the ban is a Class B misdemeanor, which carries a maximum of 30 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
