Flood advisory issued for Stark County, parts of Billings and Dunn counties

The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for Stark County, southwestern Dunn County and southeastern Billings County because of flood melt in the Heart River and Green River basins as well as small creeks and streams.

The advisory will remain in effect through 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Other areas affected include Spring Creek at Zap and the Knife River

Current water levels are higher than those seen in March and additional rises are expected. Overland flooding of rural roads is also possible.

The National Weather Service is also cautioning people to be mindful of normally dry washes and farmland along creeks and streams as it only takes a few inches of rushing water to carry away a vehicle.
